Google turns off Chrome apps for Mac and Windows.

In August last year, Google announced that it would close the App section in the Chrome Web Store. The company tells in its blog post that it was a step towards closing the standalone Chrome app, which was not actually downloaded for its browsers.

Followed through Google: Chrome browser users will no longer be able to use or install any app from Chrome Web Store. In the early days of 2018, Chrome apps that are already installed on Google's browser will no longer work.

However, Chrome OS users will still be able to reach them for the near future. People using Chrome for web surfing will be able to download extensions and themes.

The blog post reads: "In the middle of December 2013 the Chrome app will be removed from the Chrome Web Store search and browse function. Existing apps will continue to work and receive updates.

The Chrome browser will continue to load packaged and hosted apps on Windows, Mac and Linux beyond the previously announced exclusion period. Another update will be posted here, when a new date for Chrome App EOL on Windows, Mac and Linux has been finalized. "

According to ARS Technica, Google is directing developers to desktop in a different way: Progressive Web Application (PWA) This new hybrid software was launched by Google earlier this year, bringing the features of this app to websites . The company has received notification of releasing PWA in the second quarter next year.
