Chinese smartphone manufacturer ZTE is quite serious about its mobile business in the United States. The company is aiming to launch its first 5G smartphone in almost a year.
The company's chief executive Laxin Cheng has recently confirmed in an interview with Bloomberg that ZTE is planning to launch 5G capable smartphone in the United States at the end of this year or at the beginning of 2019.
But this is not yet fixed as this scheme can change in the supply of required chipsets based on the availability of the fifth generation network. Cheng also said that apart from the 5G ready smartphone, ZTE can also offer 5G tablet and wireless internet hub in its portfolio.
According to Bloomberg, AT & T had earlier said that it is planning to provide 5G phone services in more than a dozen cities this year. Chipset producer Qualcomm has also talked about new chips that it will sell faster to enable wireless connectivity. Without the Qualcomm chip, ZTE and other phone manufacturers will struggle to prove the 5G gadget.
Meanwhile, JDTE seems to be the first company to present handset ready for 5G in the United States. Or maybe rival specs like Samsung and Apple may take lead, even if they have not planned on 5G smartphones this year. Apart from this, Apple is already embroiled in a lawsuit with Qualcomm to see how Apple can bring its 5G chipset.
